Tip of the Week:
When playing in a 4-3 fit, you generally have to take care to avoid losing control of the hand. This often involves not drawing trumps early on so that you can lose the lead but still get in by ruffing. Also, remember that your opponents' trumps are likely to divide 4-2, rather than 3-3, so play accordingly. On the flipside, if you're defending and think your opponents are playing a 4-3 fit, consider leading a trump to cut down on declarer's ruffs.

Kudos and Congratulations

Congratulations to Colin Binnington and Nancy Nap for their 70.83% game this Monday evening!

Special Game & Events this Week

We have two NAP-qualifying games this week. Each game awards triple points, part red, for only an extra dollar. These games will be:

Tuesday, July 31st, 7:00pm – OPEN game

Thursday, August 2nd, 12:30pm – OPEN game

For students of the game:

Come on out to our Thursday evening game! During the summer, it will be a non-sanctioned, $5 game aimed towards newer players – so be sure to come on out and have a good time over the summer!

Additionally, Gary is still holding his Summer School this Thursday morning. We've been looking at overcalls, takeout doubles and responses thereto - be sure to look out for your quiz!

Our Up the Ranks game will be held on Saturday, August 18th, 12:30pm. This 0-1000 team game is a perfect time for newer players to come out and play their first team game, while also being ideal for more experienced players! If you need teammates, contact Kathie or Victor!

This week’s quiz:

Per usual, the quiz is attached to this email, as is the answer to last week’s quiz. Alternatively, you can click here

And, as mentioned, the August calendar is attached to this email as well.

See you at the tables,
Kathie and Bill & Victor
